Patience isn’t Just a Lesson, It’s a Practice

An older gentleman shared a piece of wisdom, “Being in the right place at the wrong time, waiting for the right time is called patience.” There is truth to this statement. Patience is not just the ability to wait; it’s a state of surrender and trust in divine timing.
Trust that the universe is already orchestrating events, people, breakthroughs that align you with what your deeper desires. Surrender to the flow of the unfolding. Patience becomes specifically relevant when delays, inconveniences and even rejection appear.
Sometimes the universe will close doors not to punish but to redirect you toward something greater than you imagined. The thing about manifestation is there is often a waiting period, and it depends on your tolerance and allowance for patience that determines how pleasant your wait is.

You can remain in impatience which comes from the egoic mind. The part that insists on a specific outcome at a specific time. Or you can assume that despite what has manifested, it is all a part of preparing you not only to get your desire, but to be able to keep it.
Choose to harmonize with the greater flow instead of resisting it. Patience brings your attention back to the ‘now’ and away from fighting the present. It allows you to expand your capacity to hold space for what is.
Most have accepted the saying “patience is a virtue,” but knowing it is not the same as living it. Embodiment comes through practice. Every delay, every disappointment, every detour becomes an opportunity to strengthen your patience muscle. And for any spiritual and emotional technique, practice is crucial. Patience isn’t just a lesson, it’s a practice.
Manifestation rarely follows the mind’s blueprint. Sometimes the mind imagines a clear, simple path, but the universe takes the most efficient, and often surprising route. Now this is an important point, what we often think is an easy linear path may not always be the most efficient. That’s why sometimes we receive exactly what we asked for just so we can discover it wasn’t truly what we wanted.
You often manifest the essence of what you desire, but not in the form the mind expects. For example, you might long for the companionship of dogs and snowy mountains to ski on. Those things may appear, but perhaps in a different place, or at a slower pace than expected.
Your ability to be patient displays real growth. It is how you respond to the in-between, the gap that can stir up nervous system overwhelm, frustration and sadness. Do you trust the unfolding, or do you collapse into defeat and impatience because it doesn’t look the way you pictured?

Patience also teaches compassion, for yourself and for others. It is a softening into the understanding that everyone, including you, is unfolding at their own pace. That’s why we are often taught never to compare our journey with anyone else. Mostly because we see their outcome, never truly knowing their path that is often filled with challenges, obstacles, and invitations to practice patience.
As always, courage is required. Impatience constricts your energy, creating feelings of frustration, restlessness, and lack of control surface. But patience expands your energy into trust, calm, and openness. Spiritually it’s seen as a marker of maturity and resonates at a higher frequency state.
And because you’re no longer resisting what is, you create a clearer path for what is meant to reach you, often more quickly than you imagined.
When delays or detours arise, let them be a bell of awareness: an opportunity to practice patience in real time, and to remember that the universe has already heard your request.
